VIP Launch of The Botanist, West Bridgford

Not too long ago, I was invited to a pre-launch party at The Botanist over in West Bridgford, Nottingham. Having never been to that side of town before, I had mixed thoughts on what the area would be like but, of course, it was pretty darn swanky much the venue itself.

After hopping off the bus, we paced a few steps onto the doorstep of The Botanist and made our way inside. We were shown to our table towards the back of the building, seated and were given menus to explore.

Having seen a few familiar faces at another table, we quickly asked if we could be seated with them and were welcomed to, which was a great touch for me; it seemed like the staff couldn’t do enough for you.

Having taken it upon myself to do ‘Sober For October’ I was strictly limited to the mocktails side of the menu so I chose a Raspberry, Grape & Elderflower Cooler which was both delicious and refreshing.

After browsing the menu for a while, me and Jess decided to share the Baked Camembert served with salad and crusty bread.

As the place was getting increasingly busier, we knew there would be a bit of a wait for our food but that didn’t bother us too much. It gave us the chance to go and take photos, have a catch up and sample some more of the drinks menu.

Whilst everyone around me was sipping away on cocktails (trust me, I was heartbroken) I had fun watching the masterpieces grace the table and sipped on my delicious Homemade Lemonade.

Not too long after, our starter arrived and oh my, it was yummy.

The Camembert was doused with garlic and a crumb topping which added a greater depth of flavour. The gooey goodness paired perfectly with the toasted bread and was gone within minutes.

This is the perfect appetiser to warm you up on a cold evening with a nice glass of wine or a G&T.

Not too long after, our mains arrived and I was VERY excited to try my concoction.

I had a Flat Iron Steak Sandwich served with seasoned fries and laid on a garlic cream cheese base with salad and a crunchy ciabatta bun.

The marriage between the medium/well steak and the garlic cream cheese was one I was in love with. I always tend to go for steak sandwiches with melted cheese on top but this discovery was one I could get on board with.

The meat was tender, the bun was crunchy and the fries were very HOT – just how I like it.

I thoroughly enjoyed making my way through this dish and I would order it again and again, given the chance.

Although very full by this point, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to try their recommended Baked Cookie Dough dessert.

I didn’t manage to snap a photo of this as I was to engrossed in eating it! Oops!

By this point, the lights had dimmed low and the hustle and bustle grew louder – this place turns into a proper bar as the time ticks on.

Having enjoyed a fabulous night of refreshing mocktails and incredible food, I had to head off home.

I had such a fun evening celebrating the launch of The Botanist and I can’t wait to take Kane over for a date night some time soon!

The interior was beautiful and made you feel very cosy and warm. The food was faultless and the staff were very welcoming and bubbly!

Have you ever tried The Botanist? What’s your favourite cocktail on their menu?
